Mountain Harmony are members of LABBS, the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers.
Our monthly fee is £17.50 which covers the cost of our venue hire, insurance, music, CD teach tracks and online access to our resources.
Plus our amazing performance costumes which are made-to-measure.

Meet our members....
Sue is Chair of our management committee so has the unenviable task of keeping our meetings in order while ensuring all members have the chance to contribute - a difficult task which she does really well, especially as we hold our meetings over Zoom now. She joined Mountain Harmony after being part of various choirs including the Fireflies Choir in Ellesmere Port and sings in our bass section.
She sang in school choirs & after leaving school, she formed a trio called Freewheelers, comprising 2 harmonising female voices with a guitarist. They performed mainly folk music with some Beatles songs, her favourite of which is ‘Yesterday’ and sang with them for a few years until she gave up after becoming engaged. Her favourite singers are probably Barbra Streisand and Scott Walker but she says it’s difficult to choose just 2 as she has so many. Sue’s parents instilled in her a love of classical music with her favourite composer being Mozart as she was lucky enough to have piano lessons as a child. She has a wide-range of favourite music and artists including Simon & Garfunkel, Lady Antebellum, Elton John, Bonnie Raitt and ELO.
Sue enjoys rehearsals along with the challenge of not just learning new music but performing at sing-outs and our annual LABBS convention (so long as she doesn’t have to wear anything too outlandish on stage 😊). She says the laughter, friendships and camaraderie at Mountain Harmony is second to none and loves the sense of humour other chorus members have. We love your sense of humour too Sue – especially when it comes to telling jokes during our Convention video!!
Heather is our membership secretary – a post she’s held for 3 years now & prior to that was our secretary and our chairperson. She joined in 2008 after learning of Mountain Harmony through 2 members as she had sung in her youth choir and later in a folk group until, in her own words, ‘life got in the way’. Once her son had grown up and she stopped teaching, Heather was keen to continue with her singing but didn’t want anything boring and thought MH sounded like fun. She says it’s lived up to her expectations and enjoys the good singing and good friends now as well.
Heather enjoys all genres of music and loves anything which grabs her attention, from opera to rock and all things in between. She loves a good quality performance and the way a song can evoke all sorts of emotions. She is looking forward to continuing her musical journey with Mountain Harmony while enjoying the friendship & support of other chorus members. No doubt she will continue for many years on our committee too. She says it’s because she likes to know what’s going on but we think it’s because she makes organising us all look so easy!!
